FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Fayetteville State University honored 573 high-achieving students during its Chancellor’s List Reception held on April 9, making this the largest cohort since the program's inception. The Spring 2026 cohort represents continued growth, increasing from 503 students in Spring 2025 and 464 in Fall 2024, signaling a momentum of academic excellence across the University.

The Chancellor’s List honors students who complete at least 15 semester hours in a term while earning a GPA of 3.75 or higher with no incomplete grades, a distinction that reflects both academic discipline and steady progress toward degree completion.

The evening included a welcome from Interim Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Sonja M. Brown, Ph.D., followed by remarks and the presentation of medallions by Chancellor Darrell T. Allison.

“This moment is about more than grades. It is about the discipline and determination it takes to stay the course,” said Allison. “Our Bronco scholars are showing what it means to commit to excellence and move with purpose toward graduation.”

More than 240 honorees, along with their family and friends, gathered to celebrate the milestone, filling the room with a sense of accomplishment, and Bronco pride.

Brown connected the achievement to the University’s broader student success efforts. “These students are not only excelling academically, but they are also doing so while maintaining the momentum needed to graduate on time,” said Brown. “That is the goal of our 30-60-90 initiative, and this group is a strong reflection of what is possible when students stay focused and supported.”

Students from each of the University’s colleges were recognized, highlighting the depth of academic excellence across disciplines.

As FSU continues to strengthen pathways to graduation, the growing number of Chancellor’s List recipients reflects a culture where Bronco excellence is not just encouraged, it is expected.
