School of Social Work Faculty to Participate in ‘All of Us’ Biomedical Researcher Scholars Program
Fayetteville, N.C. - A Fayetteville State University Assistant Professor was accepted to the Baylor College of Medicine’s All of Us Biomedical Researcher Scholars Program. This program focuses on recruiting researchers who identify as belonging to one or more communities that are underserved in the biomedical research workforce to increase their interest and involvement in biomedical research.
Michelle Bates, Ph.D., assistant professor in the School of Social Work, was selected to participate in Baylor’s prestigious program May 15-18 in Houston. Bates will join other early career researchers during the All of Us Evenings with Genetics Research Scholars Program Faculty Summit. During this 3-day immersive experience, she will participate in a multidisciplinary team to begin research to address the needs of underrepresented communities.
“I am truly honored to join other brilliant researchers across the nation in this initiative,” said Bates. “Ultimately, I know that my participation in this research program will advance my skillset which will allow me to better support the needs of the School of Social Work and our students.”
All of Us Biomedical Researcher Scholars Program is a one-year program that supports underserved biomedical researchers who attended the BR Faculty Summit. The purpose of the All of Us BR Scholars Program is to increase the engagement of biomedical researchers that use the All of Us research platform and help mitigate professional barriers common to early career researchers.
