The mission of Upward Bound is to provide participants with academic support services and cultural and social activities, thereby ensuring they will complete high school and enroll in college. The program at Fayetteville State University has been in existence since 1995 and has grown under the leadership of Executive Director of Special Programs, Dr. Dorothy Holmes.

The Upward Bound Program provides educational/academic support services and activities to high school students residing in Cumberland, Hoke, and Robeson counties.
