Early College & Cooperative Innovative High School Students

At FSU, we understand the commitment and drive it takes to graduate from a Cooperative Innovative High School or Early College—especially since two of them are located right here on our campus. You've already proven you're capable of great things, and we're here to help you go even further.

Choosing How to Apply

If you’re graduating from a North Carolina Cooperative Innovative High School and earning an associate degree at the same time, you have two options for applying to Fayetteville State University:

Apply as a First-Time Freshman, or Apply as a Transfer Student

Review the differences below to help decide which path is right for you.

Applying as a First-Time Freshman

If you apply as a first-time student, your application will be reviewed holistically. This means we’ll consider:

  • Your high school courses and cumulative GPA
  • Your college transcript
  • Students with a weighted High School GPA greater than or equal to 2.50 and less than 2.80 are required to submit a standardized test score of a 17 or higher on the ACT or a 930 or higher on the SAT.

Applying as a Transfer Student

If you choose to apply as a transfer student, your admission decision will be based solely on your college coursework. Your high school transcript will be required for enrollment, but it will not factor into your admission decision.

Important: Transfer applicants are not eligible for freshman-only scholarships. Additionally, some academic majors may have specific admissions criteria or additional application materials—check with your intended department for details.

Regardless of How You Apply:

All students graduating from an Early College or CIHS will be considered first-time freshmen upon enrollment, regardless of the application type. This ensures access to freshman housing, support programs, and first-year student resources.

Your official academic standing (Freshman, Sophomore, etc.) will be based on the number of transferable college credits you bring with you.

What to Submit

If applying as a First-Time Freshman:

  • Undergraduate Application for Admission
  • $50 non-refundable application fee
  • Official high school transcript
  • Students with a weighted High School GPA greater than or equal to 2.50 and less than 2.80 are required to submit a standardized test score of a 17 or higher on the ACT or a 930 or higher on the SAT.

If applying as a Transfer Student:

FSU is family-oriented. Going to an HBCU made me realize that people are really there for me. FSU is not too big and not too small. It’s a great school.
