Report Concerns
The University is committed to fostering a learning, working, and living environment grounded in integrity, civility, and mutual respect—free from sex-based discrimination.
All members of the campus community are encouraged to report incidents of Prohibited Sexual Conduct to the University’s Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator can provide information about available supportive measures and guide individuals through the University’s processes for investigating and addressing such concerns.
Individuals are also encouraged—but not required—to report incidents to the FSU Police and Public Safety Department or local law enforcement. Choosing to report to law enforcement will not affect an individual’s ability to pursue resolution through the University’s Title IX process, which operates independently of any criminal investigation.
Certain Title IX violations may also qualify as reportable offenses under the Clery Act and must be reported to the University’s Clery Compliance Office.
MANDATORY REPORTERS
University employees with director level responsibility, as well as those with teaching or advising responsibilities are mandatory reporters and must report any knowledge of a potential violation of the Prohibited Sexual Conduct policy to the Title IX Coordinator. Other employees should also report their knowledge of such incidents to the Title IX Coordinator or University Police. No employee is authorized to investigate or attempt to resolve an incident.
(Exception: Employees with a legal obligation or privilege of confidentiality (including health care providers, counselors, and their associated staff) are not considered required reporters and are not required to report when the information is learned during a confidential communication.)
