Here are some of the most asked questions that the Classification & Compensation Unit at Fayetteville State University receives from employees, supervisors, and hiring managers. Position descriptions should be reviewed annually (in conjucntion with developing a new work plan) and updated when the job duties and responsibilities change whether it is the addition or deletion of tasks.
Supervisors can review and update position descriptions in PeopleAdmin and submit to the Classification & Compensation Manager for approval. The "how-to" guide is located here.
1.) Completed PPA (see example here)
2.) Written justification outlining additional duties/responsibilities that the employee will be doing. Be sure to include the start and end dates, compensation amount, and frequency of the compensation.
Note: All documents are required to be submitted and approved by the Office of Human Resources before the employee begins working. Otherwise, employees run the risk of not being compensated for all their work.

If an employee thinks their position is in the incorrect class, they should notify their supervisor. Supervisors should conduct a review of the duties and responsibilities of the position compared to the position description. If there is compelling evidence that the position should be reclassified, the supervisor should contact the Classification & Compensation Manager to initiate a reclassification.
