Fayetteville State University Welcomes New Broncos for STRIDE Welcome Week Aug. 12
Operation Smooth Move brings new residential students to campus ahead of the fall semester.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A new class of Broncos will begin making Fayetteville State University home Aug. 12 as STRIDE Welcome Week introduces incoming students to campus and helps them prepare for the start of the fall semester. Early move-in begins at 8 a.m. Aug. 12 for out-of-state freshmen and students in the Matriculation Success Academy.
STRIDE, short for Students Taking Responsibility in Developing Excellence, introduces new Broncos to the FSU community through activities and experiences designed to help them build connections and become familiar with campus life.
“STRIDE Welcome Week is an important part of how we welcome students into the Fayetteville State community and help them begin their college experience with confidence,” said Juanette Council, Ed.D., vice chancellor for student affairs. “From their first days on campus, we want our new Broncos and their families to have the information and support they need for a successful transition.”
A major part of the week is Operation Smooth Move, FSU’s coordinated move-in experience for first-time freshmen and new transfer residential students. General move-in will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 13. Students will arrive during designated times based on last name to help manage traffic and activity around the residence halls. Before arriving, families can access "Know Before You Go" resources online to review express check-in requirements and parking details.
During Operation Smooth Move, students will settle into their rooms, receive university identification cards, meet with advisers and counselors, and finalize course registration. Families will also have an opportunity to become familiar with campus and get answers to questions as students prepare for the semester.
Welcome Week continues through Aug. 16, and includes one of FSU’s signature traditions for new students. The Class of 2030 Pinning Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Aug. 15 in the J.W. Seabrook Auditorium. Chancellor Darrell T. Allison will formally welcome the new freshman class into the Bronco family as students recite the student pledge and receive an FSU lapel pin.
Faculty, staff, alumni and student volunteers will be stationed across campus during move-in days to welcome new students and help families navigate campus.
Students and families can find the complete STRIDE Welcome Week schedule, move-in information, campus map and additional resources at www.uncfsu.edu/welcomeweek. Attendees can also download the STRIDE guide on the Guidebook app for live schedule updates and notifications throughout the week.
Fall classes begin Aug. 17.
