FSU Theatre Company announces auditions for its fall musical, Children of Eden, August 15th, 2019, from 6-8pm and August 19th, 2019, from 4-6pm. Auditions will be held in Butler Theater on the campus of Fayetteville State University.
Written by legendary theatre artists John Caird (Les Miserables) and Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Wicked), Children of Eden explores the Creation and Noah's Ark stories with a fresh perspective, foot-stomping music, and a heart-rending story of family, love, and letting go. Known for its soaring sounds that range from African to Gospel to contemporary Broadway sounds, Children of Eden follows Adam, Eve, Cain, Able, Noah, and his family as they navigate the triumphs and trials of making new worlds.
We welcome singers, actors, dancers, and other entertainers to audition. Anyone may audition, whether a FSU student or not.
Actor/singer/dancer/entertainer auditions consist of a solo audition (a capella), followed by time spent learning songs in a group setting and performing the songs' melody and harmonies, plus readings from scripts, and movement work.
Musician auditions consist of a solo audition followed by time spent learning songs with music director. Guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, and other instruments welcome.
Rehearsals begin in late August and run through October 23. Performances run October 24-27. Actors are expected to have weekday evening availability at the very least for rehearsals (6pm-10pm) and weekend availability for the week of performance and the week before.
FSU students should be willing to enroll themselves in THEA 140 or 141, or an upper level practicum course as appropriate.
Register for auditions is required. Register by emailing email@example.com with "Children of Eden Auditions" in the subject heading. Include a photo and any pertinent information about your theatre experience.
