Our law enforcement officers have the authority to enforce federal, state, and local laws, as well as the rules and regulations of Fayetteville State University. PPS’s broader responsibilities encompass not only law enforcement but also disaster preparedness/response and the implementation of public safety initiatives within the FSU community.

The primary mission of PPS is to ensure the safety and security of the FSU community, creating an environment where students, faculty, staff, and visitors can pursue their academic and personal goals with confidence and peace of mind. PPS accomplishes its mission by its commitment to providing enhanced public safety services through proactive policing and community engagement, serving the FSU community with integrity and respect, and cultivating an atmosphere conducive to maintaining positive community relationships.

Erykah Briggs-White

Senior Erykah Briggs-White's first encounter with campus police was a positive one. As an incoming freshman, Erykah participated in the former FSU C.H.E.E.R. program. While participating in a teambuilding completion, kickball, she sprained her ankle. "While it hurt really bad, I was more so being very dramatic!" Patrol Officer Charles Williams offered Erykah some much needed assistance...he carried her to her dorm! "He really didn't have to do that, but he did and I was very thankful," she states.
