I am a Professor of Plant Biology and the Chair of the Dept. of Biological and Forensic Sciences here at Fayetteville State University. I earned a BS degree in Plant Biology from Mohamed V University, Morocco in 1992, a MS degree in Enzymatic Engineering, Bioconversion, and Microbiology from the University of Picardie Jules Verne, Amiens, France in 1995. In 1999, I joined the Center for Excellence in Soybean Research, Teaching, and Outreach, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL, USA where I earned a Ph.D. in Plant Biology (Plant Genetics, Genomics, and Physiology) in December 2003. From 2001 to 2004, I worked as a High School teacher at Chicago Public Schools and taught Biology, AP Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Sciences. In 2004, I joined Kean University, NJ as an Assistant Professor of Botany and worked there from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, I joined the Department of Natural Sciences, Fayetteville State University, NC as an Associate Professor of Botany and was promoted to Full Professor in 2009 and to Dept. Chair in 2010. I serve as an Advisory Board member of Atlas Publishing, LLC, Editor-In-Chief of Atlas Journal of Biology, a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Biotech Research, and a reviewer for several international journals and granting agencies.

Plant Genetics and Genomics:

  • Genetic and quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping of important agronomic traits in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] such as seed protein, oil, fatty and amino acids (AA), isoflavones, mineral nutrients, and sugars contents, etc.

Plant Biotechnology:

  • Somatic embryogenesis, cell, tissue, and organ culture in soybean and other plant species
  • Plant transformation in soybean and other plant species
  • Analysis of transgenic plants
