Investing in Excellence. Empowering Generations. Ensuring Legacy.
For nearly 160 years, Fayetteville State University (FSU) has stood as a beacon of opportunity, academic excellence, and social mobility. As one of the nation’s oldest public HBCUs, FSU continues to transform lives and strengthen communities through access to high quality education.
Private philanthropy plays a vital role in sustaining and expanding this mission. Among the most powerful ways donors can shape the future of FSU is through the creation of an endowed fund.
The Power of an Endowment
An endowed fund is a permanent charitable investment that provides long term support for the donor’s chosen area at FSU. The principal remains untouched and is invested in perpetuity. A portion of the annual earnings supports the endowment’s purpose, and the remaining earnings are reinvested to grow the fund over time.
Endowments help FSU:
- Provide scholarships that open doors for deserving students
- Attract and retain outstanding faculty
- Support academic programs and innovative initiatives
- Strengthen colleges, departments, and student success
An endowment is more than a gift—it is a legacy that continues to give year after year.
Creating a Lasting Legacy
Establishing an endowed fund is a meaningful way to honor a loved one, celebrate a family legacy, or recognize the impact FSU has made in your life. Named endowed funds create powerful, lasting tributes that inspire future generations.
Whether supporting students, faculty, research, or academic programs, an endowment reflects your values and ensures that your story becomes a permanent part of FSU’s history.
Minimum Investment and Opportunities
A general endowed fund—such as one for student scholarships or faculty recognition—may be established at FSU with a minimum commitment of $25,000. Donors may contribute any amount to an existing endowment.
Endowments can be created through:
- Current gifts (cash, securities, or other assets)
- Multi year commitments
- Estate plans or other planned giving arrangements
Friends, family, and colleagues may also contribute to a named endowed fund, deepening its impact and honoring its significance.
Your Impact
By establishing an endowed fund at Fayetteville State University, you help secure the future of countless students, strengthen academic excellence, and preserve FSU’s legacy as a transformative institution.
Together, we can empower generations of Broncos to learn, lead, and succeed.

Create a Legacy That Shapes Future Generations of Broncos
For more than a century, Fayetteville State University (FSU) has helped students unlock opportunity, advance their education, and change the trajectory of their lives. Planned giving allows you to play a transformational role in this mission—while also supporting your own financial goals.
A planned gift to FSU is more than a financial decision. It is a meaningful act of generosity that ensures future students have the resources, support, and pathways they need to thrive. Whether through your will, a trust, real estate, or other assets, your legacy can strengthen the future of FSU for generations to come.
Why Planned Giving?
A Smart Strategy With Powerful Impact
Planned giving is one of the most flexible and impactful ways to support FSU. Working together with you and your financial advisor, we can help you create a giving strategy that achieves both your philanthropic vision and your financial goals.
Strategic planned giving offers significant advantages:
- Reduce or eliminate capital gains and estate taxes
- Realize immediate tax savings
- Transform real estate or tangible property into tax advantaged charitable gifts
Your planned gift can provide lasting support for scholarships, academic programs, faculty initiatives, and other University priorities—ensuring that your values continue to uplift future Broncos.
Always consult your financial advisor or estate planner to tailor your giving strategy to your unique circumstances.
