Fayetteville State University Welcomes the Class of 2028
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (August 12, 2024) – Fayetteville State University (FSU) will officially welcome the Class of 2028 with Operation Smooth Move on Tuesday, August 13, at 8 a.m. Classes at FSU start on August 19.
Sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs, Operation Smooth Move is the kick-off event for Students Taking Responsibility in Developing Excellence or S.T.R.I.D.E. Welcome Week. STRIDE Week is an action-packed Week of events, services, and connections designed to welcome students to Fayetteville State University and introduce them to the University's traditions, academic offerings, and culture.
Operation Smooth Move is a systematic process to ensure a smooth move-in and eliminate congestion in the freshmen residence halls. It is also a cooperative campus-wide effort by which students, administrators, faculty, staff and alumni volunteers stand ready to assist new students and parents with direction and guidance as they transition onto campus.
The FSU Student Government Association, Miss and Mr. FSU and the Royal Court, members of the University's fraternities and sororities, athletes, and other student groups will be on hand to assist new Broncos moving into their residence halls. FSU Chancellor Darrell T. Allison and his administrative team members will also be on hand to answer questions and greet the new students and their families.
On this day, students will also have their identification cards made, meet with advisors and counselors, register for classes, and participate in events that will introduce them to life as FSU students. We will also ask local community partners and agencies to assist with this effort to welcome new students and families to the University.
On Sunday, August 18, students will continue a Bronco tradition by participating in the Pinning Ceremony at 2 p.m. in the Seabrook Auditorium. This is a formal induction ceremony to welcome all new freshmen to FSU. Chancellor Allison officially inducts the new class into the Bronco family by reciting the student pledge. All students will receive an FSU lapel pin to wear for any formal or ceremonial occasion. This year, we will introduce the inaugural Adult Learner, Military, and Transfer Pinning Ceremony events for those respective student segments on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
All media are invited to cover these events. For more information, please contact Director of Media Relations Devon Smith by phone at 910-672-1709 or email at dsmith153@uncfsu.edu.
