FSU Moves Up Seven Spots Regionally in 2025 Rankings, No. 1 HBCU Nursing Program in the state.
Fayetteville, N.C. – Fayetteville State University’s School of Nursing program has been ranked No. 1 among North Carolina Historical Black Colleges and Universities in the Best Colleges 2025 rankings by U.S. News & World Report. FSU also earned recognition among top public colleges and universities, best HBCUs, best colleges for veterans and social mobility.
“We are actionable and intentional in our efforts to be a top-choice institution, and our state and national rankings confirm that our message is resonating,” said Monica T. Leach, Ed.D., FSU’s provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs. “I am proud of our amazing faculty and staff that is delivering expert instruction and support to FSU students providing an exceptional educational experience as a launching pad to a prosperous career and life here in the Sandhills region and beyond.”
In the Best Colleges 2025 rankings, FSU ranks as No. 62 in the Regional University South category, up seven spots from last year. Regionally, FSU was also named No. 27 Best Colleges for Veterans, No. 30 Top Public Colleges and Universities and No. 17 Top Performers on Social Mobility in the south. In North Carolina, FSU is fourth as a top public institution and university for veterans.
“Veterans, active servicemembers and military dependents enter our funnel because of rankings, waived admission fees and our military tuition scholarship, but they quickly learn about our dedication to them,” said Executive Director of the Office for Adult Learners, Transfer and Military Students Cierra Griffin, Ed.D. “With three support offices – FSU at Fort Liberty, Military and Veterans Resource Center and my office – and the veterans working in them, we offer an enhanced level of customer service that shows how much we care.”
FSU’s undergraduate nursing program has improved more than 200 spots from 2022, when it was ranked No. 492. The program’s national ranking for 2025 is No. 254. Among other HBCUs, FSU moved up two spots to No. 21 Best HBCU in the nation.
