FSU Starbucks Officially Open Ahead of Spring Semester
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Fayetteville State University hosted about 300 faculty, staff, students and community members for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of its standalone 2-story Starbucks located in the heart of campus on Jan. 14.
It has always been my goal to provide an environment that feels welcoming and supportive,” FSU Chancellor Darrell T. Allison said during his remarks. “We want our students, faculty, staff and community to enjoy this new amenity, and every dollar comes back to support FSU,” he added.
The 5,894 square-foot building is a part of a $1.5 million investment into the East Quad that is located directly behind the Rudolph Jones Student Center and Butler Administration Building. Upfitting this area will provide another location for campus goers to study or take a break. Chancellor Allison said this is especially true for commuter students, who make up the largest percentage of FSU’s more than 7,000 students.
As the ceremony went on, Matt Rogers, regional vice president of Aramark, express his gratitude to partner with FSU and Starbucks to open the doors to the new dining option. “We are thrilled to have this building online as many of you watched it take shape over the past year,” he said.
The purpose and significance of Starbucks having a presence on FSU’s campus was emphasized by the Starbucks team. “What’s exciting about this location is intentionally creating a space not only for residential students, but also for commuter students to truly feel like they have a place on campus,” said Tara Hewitt, Starbucks store development manager. “It provides an environment for them to relax, pull their laptops out and work and have a beverage, which can be extremely powerful.”
FSU’s partnership with Starbucks has impacted students already. Juanette Council, vice chancellor for student affairs, highlighted the Bronco Spirit Campaign that was funded by a $50,000 grant from Starbucks. The campaign aims to increase school spirit through the cheer and spirit squad, fan experiences like transporting students to away games and supporting the Marching Bronco Xpress. The event also included a surprise announcement that all full-time students with at least one class on campus are receiving an additional $20 in Bronco Bucks redeemable at Starbucks and other campus dining options.
This campus location uses the Starbucks app for preorders. The new Starbucks’ normal operating hours are:
- Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday, Noon to 7 p.m.
