More Than One Hundred New Broncos Complete Bronco Boost Summer Bridge Program, Five Receive Scholarships
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Fayetteville State University celebrated 102 new students completing the second cohort of the Bronco Boost Summer Bridge Program, including five Boost participants earning scholarships, during the program’s closing ceremony in the Rudolph Jones Students Center on July 31.
On June 14, 95 first-time freshmen and seven transfer students journeyed to FSU for an immersive, residential 7-week transition program. Each freshmen took three courses earning eight credits toward finishing their degree before their first fall semester. The program also assists high school graduates with adjusting to campus life during the summer and transfer students to transition to FSU smoothly.
During the ceremony, each Boost faculty member awarded one student with a superlative for their performance in class, and five students earned $1,000 scholarships for their focus and tenacity throughout the summer.
In addition to the English, math and financial literacy course, program participants engaged in service and experiential learning, fitness workshops, mental wellness sessions, field trips and life skills mentoring.
