The Department of Psychology online degree program was ranked # 1 among online degree programs by Affordable Colleges Online (ACO) for the year 2015-2016. Previously, the program was ranked in the top 25 for the year 2014-2015. Given that the department has no affiliation with ACO, we are honored that they have recognized our contributions to online education. The Department of Psychology offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, an online Bachelor of Science (O.B.S. and a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree. The undergraduate program prepares students for a variety of careers that value a strong liberal arts background, or for graduate study. The online degree completion program is for undergraduate students who have completed their University College core curriculum and are looking for an innovative and alternative way to complete their degree. The Master program offers students an opportunity to continue their education after earning their bachelor's degree.
When accepted into the Psychology major, you will take courses on:
- animal and human behavior in context
- how is the human mind put together and how it works
- the role of brain mechanisms on the behavior and the mind
- methods that psychologists use to ask questions about mind and behavior
- people and their circumstances defining social behavior
- psychological disorders and how they affect us
At the end of the course work you will have gained critical thinking abilities and the capacity to recognize and apply several psychological paradigms, acquire and analyze data, as well as the capacity to report your findings in written and oral communications.
