Center for Personal Development
Looking for your campus counseling center? Welcome to the Center for Personal Development (CFPD). CFPD is a counseling and mental health support service which focuses on enhancing the FSU Bronco experience and educational process of our enrolled students. Our counseling services, provided by licensed professional counselors, are free, private, and confidential. Exceptions to confidentiality involve imminent safety concerns.
The primary mission of the Center for Personal Development is to provide programs and outreach services to promote student engagement, and assist in the emotional, psychological, physical, and intellectual development of students with diverse backgrounds.
If an enrolled student of the Bronco family is experiencing any measure of distress, we seek their collaboration to create and implement a plan that allows for increased perspective, personal growth, and a return to a level of functioning most likely to promote success at Fayetteville State University.
In addition to individual, couples, and group counseling, we serve students through the following programs:
- Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Program provides counseling, community resources, and campus awareness regarding the effects and consequences of alcohol and other drugs.
- Student Disability Services Program assists in making reasonable accommodations related to campus life for students with disabilities.
- Bronco Whole Mind Spa, our new relaxation room, provides an innovative and therapeutic alternative to face-to-face counseling.
We also provide support for students requesting assistance and accommodations related to temporary disabilities or absences due to documented illness or death in their immediate family.
In the spirit of Bronco pride, we offer transformative experiences (i.e., workshops, presentations, small groups, screenings) to engage our students based on their needs and interests. For services needed outside of our office or off-campus, referrals are made in response to the specific needs of our students.
