Faculty Resources

The Office of Student Disability Services (SDS) at Fayetteville State University is the designated campus office responsible for determining and approving student accommodations and assisting faculty in fulfilling their responsibility to provide approved academic accommodations. SDS ensures students with disabilities have equitable access to academic programs and services in accordance with federal law and University policy.

To support both you and your students effectively, we ask that faculty frequently access the Faculty AIMs Portal (Click HERE), in advance especially between the timeframe prior to the semester start date and before the semester registration deadline. Many students with approved accommodations may add or drop your course at any time prior to the start of classes, and accessing the portal regularly ensures you are up-to-date on enrollment changes of students SDS approaved and who require accommodations.

The Faculty AIMs Portal is your central hub for:

  • Viewing all students currently enrolled in your classes who are registered with SDS
  • Accessing each student’s approved accommodation notification letters directly and securely
  • Confirming accommodation details at your convenience, right at your fingertips
  • Even if accommodation letters are missed in email, the portal provides ongoing access so you remain informed and in compliance with accommodation obligations.

In addition to the Faculty AIMs Portal:

  • Students receive accommodation letters electronically
  • Faculty will receive an emailed approved accommodation letter for each student approximately five business days prior to class beginning. These multiple notification methods are intended to help you plan appropriately and meet accommodation requirements proactively.

Accessibility is a shared responsibility.

SDS is your partner in providing an inclusive and accessible educational environment for all students. We strongly encourage proactive consideration of accessibility in all aspects of course planning and delivery, including syllabi, assignments, exams, and course materials.

If you have questions or need assistance with the Faculty AIMs Portal or implementing accommodations, please contact SDS at disabilityservices@uncfsu.edu or 910-672-1222.
