What is the FSU IT & Cybersecurity Academy?

The IT & Cybersecurity Academy is an accelerated non-college degree specialized training program designed to equip students with the technical knowledge and hands-on experience needed for careers in IT and cybersecurity. Our courses cover fundamental and advanced topics, preparing students for industry-recognized certifications and career advancement.

Who can enroll in the Academy?

Our program is open to all individuals, including transitioning military personnel, veterans, working professionals, and students looking to start or advance their careers in IT and cybersecurity.

What courses and certifications are offered?

We offer two courses leading to industry-recognized certifications, including but not limited to:

  • Certificate in Cyber Foundations
    • CompTIA A+
    • CompTIA Network+
    • CompTIA Security+
  • Certificate in Cyber Security (Advanced)
    • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
    • CompTIA Linux+ System Administrator
    • Packet Analysis with Wireshark
Do I need prior experience in IT to enroll?

No prior experience is needed for our Cyber Foundations course. However, there is a prerequisite to enroll in the advanced Cyber Security course.

How long do the courses take to complete?

The Cyber Foundations course can be completed in as little as thirty-three classroom days (12 weeks). The advanced Cyber Security course can be completed in forty classroom days (16 weeks).

Are the courses offered online or in person?

We offer both live online and in-person training options to accommodate different learning preferences.

Can I get hands-on experience?

Yes, our training includes hands-on labs, simulations, and real-world projects to help students gain practical experience applicable to their careers.

What is Live Online training?

In addition to in-person instruction, both courses are available via a Live Online format. The courses have the same content and expert instructors as our in-person training but are delivered entirely online through our virtual classroom environment. Each class session is live and led by an Instructor.

What is the weekly class schedule?

Both courses consist of three weekly evening sessions:

  • The Foundations course meets on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (online labs) from 6 PM – 10 PM.
  • The Advanced course meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (online labs) from 5 PM – 10 PM.
Is financial assistance available?

Yes, eligible students may qualify for financial assistance, including VA benefits (such as VR&E and Post 9/11 GI Bill), and employer tuition reimbursement programs. We also provide payment plans to accommodate students' financial situations. Contact our office for more details.

Are certifications included in the program?

Yes, as part of your tuition, students receive exam vouchers for each certification they wish to take upon completion of the course.
