Dr. Priscilla Manarino-Leggett

Dr. Priscilla Manarino-Leggett is a Professor in the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Grades, Reading and Special Education.  She received her BA and MA from the University of South Florida and her Ph.D. in Elementary Education/Reading Language Arts from the University of South Florida. She previously served as Department Chair, Coordinator of Reading Education and Elementary Education. Dr. Manarino-Leggett established the on-campus reading clinic in the College of Education which began in 1978 to provide practicum experiences for M.Ed. candidates in reading education.

She has been the recipient of several funded grants and taken been actively involved in state and national accreditation processes. She spearheaded NCDPI revisioning of programs in the Department and developed and lead workshops for NC state licensing exams in reading.  She served as dissertation chair to several Ed.D. candidates in Educational Administration.  

During her tenure at FSU, she has authored and co-authored several publications and presented at national, state and local conferences. Dr. Manarino-Leggett conducted multitude of professional development workshops for in-service teachers in this region and across the state. She was honored to receive the North Carolina Board of Governors Teaching Award in 1995. She was awarded Department Teacher of the Year several times and received many awards for her exemplary service to the College of Education.

She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in reading and language arts and continues to mentor many of her former students.
