Dr. Charles Olomofe

Dr. Charles Olomofe, “Dr. O,” is a physician, epidemiologist, researcher, educator, and mentor with over 15 years of experience bridging his clinical knowledge with teaching and research and creating the best learning experiences for students charting a path in public health.
Dr. Olomofe worked as a physician in the early part of his career in public and private teaching hospitals in Nigeria, West Africa. During his time as a clinician, he diagnosed, treated, managed, and performed surgical operations on patients, which provided him with a critical understanding of the healthcare system's functioning, especially in resource-poor settings. Dr O is now devoted to working in the public health space. He has worked with USAID, the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and other organizations. He has expertise in teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, disease surveillance and response, epidemic investigation, epidemiological and public health research, data analysis and presentation, clinical case management of infectious and non-communicable diseases, public health systems, policy and practice, and program planning and evaluation.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Nigeria; a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom; Completed residency training and fellowship in Community Health from the West African College of Physicians (FWACP), and a Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) from East Tennessee State University, United States.
Dr. Olomofe’s areas of research include vaccine behavior, vaccine-preventable diseases, infectious disease epidemiology (HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria, etc.), tobacco control and substance use, health systems and management, and reproductive health.
