Dr. Sean Baldwin
Assistant Professor
Dr. Sean C. Baldwin joined Fayetteville State University in the Fall of 2025. A native of Whiteville, North Carolina, he brings a rich background in education and sport management to the university community.
Dr. Baldwin earned his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies with a concentration in Sport Management from Concordia University Chicago. He holds a professional master's degree in Parks, Recreation, Tourism & Sport Management from North Carolina State University and a bachelor's degree in Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies from North Carolina Central University.
While completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Baldwin served as a student assistant in the Sports Information Department at NCCU under the leadership of Kyle Serba. He also held the role of Director of Basketball Operations intern for the NCCU Men's Basketball team under the leadership of LeVelle Moton for his summer internship.
During his first year of graduate studies, Dr. Baldwin served as a Graduate Program Assistant for the NCCU Men’s Basketball team. In his second year, he taught upper school physical education at Mount Zion Christian Academy located in Durham, NC.
With over a decade of experience in both secondary and higher education, Dr. Baldwin has taught sport management and physical education courses as an adjunct at Johnson C. Smith University and Queens University of Charlotte. He also served as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Business Education/Marketing teacher in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. From 2018-2025, he was a full-time professor of Sports, Entertainment & Event Management within the College of Hospitality & Business Management at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dr. Baldwin holds a Professional Educator's License in Business and Information Technology from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. His academic and professional journey reflects a deep commitment to student development, experiential learning, and leadership in sports.
Dr. Baldwin's primary research focuses on exploring the role of servant leadership in college athletics. His secondary interests include examining the economic and equity impacts of NCAA revenue sharing on Olympic sports and HBCU athletic programs, as well as investigating the intersection of experiential learning and human capital development in educational and athletic contexts.
