Dr. Christina Barksdale
Dr. Christina Barksdale is the MSW Director of Practicum Education in the School of Social Work at Fayetteville State University. She earned her Doctorate in Social Work with a concentration in DEIPAR (diversity, equity, inclusion/intersectionality, power, and anti-racist practices) from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from NC State University, her Military Behavioral Certification from Fayetteville State University, and her Bachelor's in Sociology from Fayetteville State University. Dr. Barksdale is the author of the children’s book “Make It Home,” which breaks the barrier of talking with black and brown youth about police brutality and how to engage law enforcement.
Additionally, Dr. Barksdale has been a master’s level social work professional for over ten years. She has worked in child welfare as an investigator, foster care social worker, adoption social worker, and supervisor. She has worked as a supervisor with the Guardian ad Litem program, a private foster care agency director, a school social worker, a therapist, and an assessor of individuals with intellectual/developmental delays. Her research interests include Foster Care Youth, Child Welfare, Anti-Racist Practices, and Collaboration Amongst Other Mental Health Professionals.
