Core Review Process
FSU is pursuing a core review process that is faculty-led and community-informed. The Core Review Task Force is collecting input from many stakeholders as it considers changes to the core curriculum.

Structure
The Core Review is led by a Core Review Task Force appointed by the Provost. It is charged to prepare a report for the Provost with recommendations. The Task Force is supported by faculty-led subcommittees:
- Curriculum: core mission, learning outcomes, requirements, and structure.
- Teaching: core teaching practices.
- Assessment: assessment of core learning outcomes and student success.
- Governance: core faculty input, administrative support, and oversight.
- Student Support: advising, academic support, and co-curricular support for the variety of students taking core courses.
Process
The core review will be community-informed. That community consists of the many stakeholders who have an interest in the core curriculum.
Students will be actively involved in the Core revision process, providing their valuable perspectives and insights. Their input will be essential in understanding their needs, aspirations, and the skills they require for success in the rapidly changing global society. By engaging students as co-creators of the Core, we will ensure that it meets their expectations and prepares them for their future careers and lives.
Alumni, with their firsthand experiences as FSU graduates, will provide valuable insights into the Core revision process. Their perspectives on the skills and knowledge they found most valuable in their post-graduation journeys will inform our decisions. Alumni engagement will strengthen the sense of community and pride among current and future students, as they see the impact of the Core on alumni success.
Employers and community partners, as key stakeholders, will actively participate in shaping the Core to ensure that it aligns with the skills and competencies they seek in graduates. By collaborating with employers through advisory boards, internships, and cooperative education programs, we will bridge the gap between academia and the workforce. This partnership will enable us to develop a C Core ORE that prepares students for success in their chosen careers and fosters a seamless transition into the professional world.
Senior FSU leaders will provide guidance and support throughout the Core revision process. Their vision, strategic direction, and commitment to educational excellence will shape the overall goals and objectives of the new curriculum. These leaders will ensure that the Core aligns with the institution's mission and strategic plan, fostering the development of well-rounded, globally competent graduates.
Throughout the two-year timeline, these key individuals will engage in a series of collaborative meetings, workshops, and consultations to shape the Core. They will consider feedback from various stakeholders, including faculty, students, employers, and alumni, to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive approach. Regular updates and progress reports will be shared with the university community to foster transparency and maintain a sense of shared ownership in the Core development process.

Task Force
Charge
The charge of the Task Force is to produce a report for the Provost with recommendations on improving the FSU Undergraduate Core Curriculum. All aspects of the core curriculum are to be considered: learning outcomes, requirements, teaching and learning, and assessment. The Task Force will oversee the Core Review process, ensuring that all stakeholders are consulted and that best practices are followed. Task Force recommendations should have substantial buy-in from stakeholders, especially the faculty, so that the recommendations can be put into a proposal that will gain the approval of the faculty, the administration, the Board of Trustees, and SACSCOC.
