2026 Summer Space Camp

The 2026 edition of Space Camp was filled again for Jun 8 - 12.  Of the 20 campers, 8 received scholarships from the Cumberland Community Foundation.  This year students built and launched their rockets while learning the basics of propulsion and physics.  Campers explored the requirements for a successful mission to Mars, and coded robots to navigate a maze.  The Europa Clipper mission by NASA was a way to learn about remote sensing before building a rocket flight computer. We briefly discussed the role of codes and ciphers in history, and how to create a simple cipher to send secret messages.
