Summer Space Camp

2024 Summer Space Camp

Our third summer Space Camp was held June 24 - 28 and had 23 students attend the camp.  Most students were from the Fayetteville area, but two were from out-of-state and one from Charlotte.  Students learned about Space Exploration, rocketry, and robotics. Campers launched rockets that they built, programmed robots to navagate a maze, and learned about careers in the aerospace industry.

While most of the students will be in middle school or freshmen in high school, they still explored forces on a rocket such as thrust and drag, basics of trigonometry, a fundamentals of Computer Science.

Funds from the Cumberland Community Foundation provided scholarships for about one-third of the students.  The SummerTime Kids program has helped fund STEM camps at FSU for the past 7 years.
