Dr. Ashley Johnson

Dr. Ashley Johnson (Holder), a former elementary and secondary reading specialist, is an Associate Professor in the College of Education at Fayetteville State University.  She is the Director of the FSU Reading Clinic and Program Coordinator for the MAT in Elementary Education Program.  She is active in many professional organizations and conducts workshops for students that increase familiarity with reading assessments and technologies. Her instructional delivery is both web-enhanced and online to promote engagement and meet the needs of her students. Dr. Johnson's research interests include student engagement and motivation, Generation Z (students born after 1995) learning styles and characteristics, digital and global literacy, teacher licensure assessments, teacher preparation, edTPA, 21st-century literacies, and community and relationship building in the classroom.

FSU Reading Clinic

The Fayetteville State University Reading Clinic (FSURC) provides tutoring to elementary students who need assistance in reading. The program has helped children who are behind several grade levels in reading perform independently at grade level.
Tutoring is provided from qualified FSU and NCSU education majors to students from all over North Carolina. We provide comprehensive assessment, instruction, practice, progress monitoring, support, and results using evidence-based reading programs.
