Educational Programs

The Educational Assistance Programs were established to help further enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of its employees, thereby increasing their ability to overall enhance the business' performance, as well as increase their ability to support the overall university mission, vision, and values.

Full-time faculty and staff members who are eligible for membership in the Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System or Optional Retirement Program are eligible to enroll in three (3) courses per academic year during fall, spring, and summer semesters, subject to approval by the employee's supervisor and Human Resources. Employees may enroll in courses at any of the 17 constituent UNC campuses. Enrollment is on a space-available basis and must not interfere with normal employment obligations.

Guidelines for Applying for Tuition Waiver:

  1. Discuss your participation in advance with your supervisor and obtain informal approval to begin the application process.
  2. You must go through the normal admissions process and register for the desired course.
  3. Complete the Application for Faculty/Staff Tuition/Fee Waiver form and obtain all needed signatures.
  4. Once approved and reviewed, HR will submit the form to the Controller's Office for final processing.

Tuition Waivers

IMPORTANT NOTE OF CHANGE: All Non-FSU employees must submit a completed Tuition Waiver application directly to FSU Student Accounts/Third Party Billing (Attn: Kiyona Jenkins). Non-FSU employees should not submit Tuition Wavier applications to FSU's Office of Human Resources; doing so will only delay your application approval and submission process.

  • No Exception to Policy: Late submissions are not accepted.
  • This is an employee benefit. Employees are responsible for completion, timely submission for approval, and tracking of waiver(s) for fee processing.
