HIV/AIDS Virtual Summer Research Institute for Helping Professionals
The primary objective of this two-week institute is to address the HIV/AIDS health disparities among LGBTQI+, Black and Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) and rural communities in Cumberland County. This is a virtual institute with the possibility of in-person days and is hosted at Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, North Carolina from July 14, 2025 through July 25, 2025.
1. A copy of your unofficial transcript (3.0 GPA is required)
2. A 10–15-minute video submission. Discussion areas for video:
- Please provide an Introduction and short summary of your background.
- Describe your interest in and commitment to health, HIV/AIDS practice, and advocacy for rural communities, LGBTQI+ individuals, and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) populations.
- What unique strengths, skills, perspectives, or experiences do you bring to this program?
- Describe your future employment and/or volunteer goals that relate to health, HIV/AIDS practice or social justice.
3. A one page, single-spaced, APA formatted personal statement. Discussion area for personal statement:
- What motivates your interest in participating in the HIV Summer Research Institute, and how does it align with your academic and professional goals?
- If selected, how do you envision using the knowledge and skills as a platform to advocate for and collaborate with marginalized communities to advance health equity?
