NOTE: Students requesting ADA/medical accommodations must still complete the housing process steps while awaiting approval (completing the online housing application, pay the $150 application fee, etc). Once approved, the student will be placed in an on-campus space based on the documentation submitted, space availability, and recommendations of the Center for Personal Development.
Steps To Applying For On-Campus Housing
Housing Application Kick off for NEW First-Time Freshmen and Transfers:
The on-campus housing process has FOUR (4) steps for new students.
STEP 1
Start working on your prerequisites.
The prerequisite steps are to ensure your access credentials are working, and you have reviewed all the housing information and found the best community connection before locking in a room and roommate.
- Pay your $100 FSU Enrollment Fee
- Attend a Virtual Housing Information Session with members of our team– sign up at https://www.uncfsu.edu/campus-life/housing-and-residence-life for the session of your choice.
- Sign up for a Summer New Student Orientation Session New Student Orientation (uncfsu.edu)
- Begin submitting your required Student Health documents. Student Health Services (uncfsu.edu)
- Test out your FSU email and user password. Microsoft Word - StudentNetworkAccountLookUp.docx (uncfsu.edu) You’ll need these credentials to log into MyHousingPortal and the required Living in Community canvas course for residential students. All FSU business will be sent to your FSU student email address.
STEP 2
Complete your housing application, pay your housing application fee and start working on your Living In Community Canvas course.
During this step our team will be checking your student records for completion of all prerequisites during this time. If you have met or are in progress with the prerequisites, you will automatically move to step 3 in May. The approval list to proceed is updated weekly on Mondays.
This step occurs April 1–May 31 for priority; June 1-30 for late/waiting list.
- Accept the email invitation to complete your required Living In Community Canvas Course. This course will review the different community types and rates and the responsibilities and privileges of living with others.
- Log into MyHousingPortal via Housing & Residence Life (uncfsu.edu) to submit your on-campus housing application and non-refundable $150 housing application fee.
STEP 3
Room and/or Roommate selection begins.
This step is May 1–31 for priority; June 1–June 30 for late/waiting list.
- Don’t forget you must have completed steps 1 and 2 before you’re eligible for step 3 room and/or roommate selection. This step requires you to log back into MyHousingPortal for Room and/or Roommate Selection along with meal plan confirmation.
- Space selections are first come, first served.
- Please note if you have signed up to be a part of a special interest housing group or Living Learning Community (LLC) your advisor or our office may have completed this step for you.
- If you do not select a room or roommate, our office will assign you an available space and/or roommate. Assignment request changes are processed in July (based upon spaces and availability)
- First time residential students are enrolled in the All-Access meal plan.
- Late and waiting list applicants can log in and start steps 1-3 of this process June 1–30 however spaces will be limited and based upon availability, not guaranteed.
STEP 4
Let’s wrap things up!
After July 1 we are in the homestretch of preparing for Fall move-in.
- Double check your student account for correct information
- Receive your move-in instructions for August. Move in instructions will include your specific move-in date, final residence hall assignment, additional roommate details, introductions to your residence hall staff and a list of what to expect during your first week on campus!
Miscellaneous Notes:
- The $150 housing application fee is non-refundable.
- The MyHousingPortal is closed for system updates from noon on Sundays until noon on Mondays. Newly eligible students are uploaded weekly.
- Students who need roommate finder assistance will receive that information during steps 2 and 3 of the on-campus housing process.
