A campus climate survey is used to help colleges and universities measure and assess their strengths and weaknesses. This is an opportunity for all members of the Fayetteville State University campus to provide feedback about their experiences, sense of belonging, and connection on campus through a confidential and anonymous survey. A Campus Climate Survey is a powerful tool to better understand the perceptions and experiences of students, faculty, and staff.

Your participation will help us understand our campus’s climate by identifying strengths and opportunities related to ensuring that diverse persons are included and treated equally and that FSU complies with federal and state law prohibiting discrimination and harassment of members of protected classes.

What is Campus Climate Survey?

  • A Campus Climate Survey is a powerful tool to better understand the perceptions and experiences of students, faculty and staff. This is an opportunity for all members of the Fayetteville State University campus to provide feedback about your experiences and your sense of belonging and connection on our campus through a confidential and anonymous survey.

 

How long should the Campus Climate Survey take to complete?

  • The survey takes an average of 15 minutes to complete. When we send out the email invitations, respondents can stop and resume the survey when it is convenient.

 

What if I do not have a work computer?

  • The Office of Risk and Compliance will offer computer lab support in the H.L. Cook Training Room and Rudolph Jones Student Center on designated dates and times to assist individuals who do not have access to a work computer or need other technical assistance.

 

Why is a positive climate important?

  • Research has found that positive personal experiences with campus climate and positive perceptions of campus climate generally equate to successful outcomes.

 

Why is Fayetteville State University conducting a climate survey?

  • The University believes the data from the survey will be useful for future planning and improving the climate at Fayetteville State University.

 

Will the Campus Climate Survey be available in another language than English?

How to participate?

  • All members of the FSU campus community will receive an email invitation from info@viewfindersurveys.com to their Fayetteville State University email account on the survey open date. The email subject will be: The Fayetteville State University Viewfinder® Campus Climate Survey is Now Open!

 

Who is conducting the survey?

  • Viewfinder® is the provider of the campus climate survey instrument. By providing information and data about what causes student and employee perceptions, Viewfinder® surveys deliver like no other research instrument.

 

How were the questions developed?

  • The consultant has administered climate surveys to more than 230 institutions across the nation and developed a repository of tested questions. The University reviewed survey questions from the tested collection and included Fayetteville State University-specific questions.

 

What will be done with data from the results?

  • The University’s senior leaders are committed to using the data to plan for a continuously improving climate at Fayetteville State University.

 

What is the response rate goal?

  • The target participation in the survey is all students, faculty, and staff at Fayetteville State University. Every response is valuable by providing beneficial feedback.

 

How is a respondent’s confidentiality protected?

  • The Campus Climate Survey makes every attempt to ensure the anonymity and confidentiality of the data collected in the following ways:
  • Survey data is collected and maintained on a secure server.
  • No person at Fayetteville State University will have access to the online account where data is collected and stored.
  • No identifiers are attached to individual survey responses, unless the respondent self-identifies.
  • The collected data is only shared with designated Fayetteville State University employees. Identifiers are not included in the data shared with FSU.
