Residency for Tuition Purposes

Undergraduate & Graduate Students

If you’re applying to Fayetteville State and want to qualify for in-state tuition, you’ll need to complete the Residency Determination through NC Residency Determination Service (RDS).

One and done: You only need to complete this once for all NC public colleges and universities.

• Heads up: If you don’t complete your Residency Determination, you’ll be charged the out-of-state tuition rate.
• Deadline: You have 45 days from the first day of classes each semester to update or correct your RDS status if you want it to impact your bill.

If you're on active duty and stationed in North Carolina — or the dependent of someone who is — be sure to submit your documentation to RDS to qualify for in-state tuition.

The same 45-day rule applies each semester.
