Non-Discrimination

Fayetteville State University believes in fostering respect and dignity for all members of our community. The Office of Risk and Compliance monitors the University's compliance with the requirements of federal and state non-discrimination laws, including but not limited to: Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. 

University policy prohibits discrimination and harassment including misconduct related to sexual misconduct, race, color, national origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, genetic information or veteran status. The Office of Risk and Compliance is committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct.

 

Our Role at Fayetteville State University

  1. To conduct prompt, fair and unbiased investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation.
  2. To conduct training and build awareness among the University community related to these topics.
  3. To stop, prevent, and remedy discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and any related retaliation.
  4. To help design policies and procedures to make our campus safer and more inclusive.
  5. To ensure all individuals are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.

 

Reporting Potential Misconduct

  • Please click the "Intake Form" button to report a potential violation of the Unlawful Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation policy.
  • Title IX violations have separate reporting portals:
    Title IX (Sexual and Gender-Based Misconduct)
  • Reports of conduct that meets the definition of Prohibited Sexual Conduct under the Prohibited Sexual Conduct Policy will be addressed solely in accordance with the Prohibited Sexual Conduct Policy and its Complaint Resolution Procedures.
  • To protect their rights, SHRA employees alleging unlawful discrimination, harassment, or retaliation should first file a complaint report with the University’s Equal Employment EEO Officer located in the Office of Human Resources.
  • Non-SHRA employees and students may report their concern to the Office of Risk and Compliance.
  • Programs registered under the Protection of Minors on Campus policy must must report all incidents involving minors. Please use this form or email ehunt6@uncfsu.edu.

Note: These reporting mechanisms are not intended for use in emergency situations. In an emergency, immediately call the University Police Department by dialing 1911 on a campus phone or 910-672-1911 from an outside phone.

 

Non-Retaliation Statement

University policy prohibits retaliation against an individual who reports discrimination or harassment in good faith.
