Empowering FSU Students in Need

Your Support Can Change a Student’s Life

At Fayetteville State University, we believe that no student should have to abandon their dreams due to unexpected financial hardships. That’s why we created the Broncos Helping Broncos Student Emergency Assistance Program.

Our Mission

To provide critical financial support to FSU students facing temporary challenges, ensuring that these obstacles don’t derail their education and future success.

Our History and Impact

  • Established in January 2022 in effort to support students affected by Hurricane Florence
  • From 2022-2024, we’ve awarded $32,527 in emergency relief funding
  • In 2023-2024, we assisted 40 students ($18,004.52) - a 24% increase
  • We support a diverse range of students: traditional, adult, and graduate students

The Impact of Your Donation

Support Student Retention: Keep talented students in school despite financial setbacks

Improve Graduation Rates: Help students overcome obstacles and complete their degrees

Alleviate Financial Stress: Allow students to focus on their studies, not financial worries

Promote Academic Success: Provide the stability needed for students to excel

Strengthen Our Community: Invest in the future of FSU and our broader community

How We Help

Types of Emergencies, may include:

  • Difficulty paying tuition and fees
  • Rent
  • Day care
  • Medical bills
  • Car repairs
  • Other unforeseen expenses

The fund is made possible because of the generosity of donors committed to helping FSU students in need, achieve their educational goals.

  • Institutional balance assistance is allowed twice during a student’s undergraduate career if approved.
  • Approved assistance will only cover partial balance, matching half you’re your outstanding balance.
  • Approved assistance for other unmet financial needs will cover up to $1000, unless the committee determines the circumstances warrant awarding a higher amount, I.e.. a student is victim of a home fire, etc.

The Need is Real

  • Housing-related hardships are a significant trend, with 37 requests in 2023-2024
  • We anticipate an increasing number of students will need assistance each year
  • Our support bridges the gap for students facing unexpected financial challenges

Creating Pathways to Success

Your support does more than provide temporary relief. It creates lasting change:

  • Bridges the Gap: Prevents minor setbacks from becoming major obstacles
  • Opens Doors: Unlocks opportunities that might otherwise remain out of reach
  • Breaks Cycles: Empowers students to build better futures for themselves and their families
  • Fosters Resilience: Shows students that their community believes in them

Hear from Our Students

“The Broncos Helping Broncos program was a lifesaver. When my car broke down, I thought I’d have to drop out because I couldn’t get to my classes. This program helped me repair my car and stay in school. I’m on track to graduate next semester!”

Sarah J. ’25

“As a single parent, unexpected childcare costs almost derailed my education. Thanks to Broncos Helping Broncos, I was able to cover these expenses and continue my studies. This program truly makes a difference.”

Michael T. ’26

How We Operate

  • A dedicated committee, including representatives from Student Affairs, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts, oversees the program
  • We have clear criteria for eligible expenses, ensuring funds are used where they’re needed most
  • The program is supported entirely by generous donations from alumni, friends, parents, and corporate sponsors

Join Us in Making a Difference
